Façade design aims to ‘use the design of visible building facades to
create or reinforce neighborhood identity and a richer pedestrian environment.
There are four goals to design façade. Firstly, incorporating elements on
the façade of building to add visual interest. Secondly, creating similarity
between buildings and streets via some elements. Thirdly, enhancing public
visual by providing views. Finally, enhancing security and comfort of
pedestrians by using these architectural elements.
From this lecture, I think façade has many benefits, however, it has
drawbacks as well. For example, to design these different façade needs
materials, some may be special and expensive, which can increase costs. Pictures blow show some facade design.
